Specializes in: Olympic Weightlifting lifting + Gymnastics
Andy played high school level football and after graduating high school started training for Air Force Special Operations(AFSOC). He passed all of the requirements for AFSOC and was accepted into the military. In early 2006 on the first day of AFSOC training he was shown a video of Nicole Carol and Annie Sakamoto doing “Nasty Girls” by the instructors and was forever hooked on CrossFit. Shortly after Andy blew his back out during training and was no longer able to continue. After he had surgery to repair his back he was always led to believe that he was going to have back pain forever and could no longer do CrossFit until Kelly Starrett came out with Mobility WOD. Once Andy started cleaning up his movement he no longer needed to take meds and could train pain free, he decided to get a CrossFit Level 1 so he could help others either be injury free or rehab previous injuries.

Arlie was peer pressured into doing his first CrossFit workout by a friend when he worked at the YMCA in his hometown. He was going to community college at the time and hadn’t played competitive sports since graduating high school. Although he can’t remember the workout, he remembers being incredibly humbled following the workout. That first workout flipped his idea of training on his head and ultimately sent him in a different direction for his education. In the following months, he switched majors from business to Exercise Science and Nutrition. In 2017 Arlington completed an extensive year long internship program with us at CrossFit Grandview as well as his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University.
With CrossFit having such a positive impact on her life, Katy knew that she wanted to pass along her love of the sport to others. In the spring of 2014 she became a Level 1 CrossFit Coach and started coaching at CrossFit Grandview later that summer.Full Bio
Katy competed in, as well as coached, swimming and dance throughout her youth. She earned a collegiate scholarship to compete in Division 1 swimming at Youngstown State University, which is where she developed an excitement for strength training. After receiving her BA in Communication Studies, Katy went on to preform for a traveling dance company in Columbus and was a hairstylist in her own Salon, within Salon Lofts. However, she missed the intense, competitive atmosphere found in a team training environment. While discussing this with a past teammate in 2011, The Reebok CrossFit Games were playing on TV and spiked both of their interests. The following week, Katy took her first CrossFit class where she tackled the workout ‘Cindy’ and has been totally dedicated to the sport ever since. Having such a positive impact on her life, Katy knew that she wanted to pass along her love of the sport to others and in the spring of 2014 she became a Level 1 CrossFit Coach and started coaching at CrossFit Grandview later that summer. She participated in the 2014 Central East Regional as a member of Team CrossFit Grandview. After that, she and the team started prepping for the 2015 season by placing 15th worldwide in the CrossFit Team Series, 1st at Back to the Ranch in Troy, Ohio and 1st at Battle of the Boxes in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The team then qualified to the Central Regional this year where they set an Event Record and qualified for The Reebok CrossFit Games which will have them competing at the end of July.

"I started interning at CrossFit Grandview in 2019 after quitting lacrosse and looking for a new competitive outlet. When I started out, I was super shy, knew absolutely no one, and wasn’t sure if I really liked CrossFit, but after joining the L-2 group in mid-June, I found myself in a new group of super-competitive athletes, a great group of people and I fell in love with CrossFit, both as a sport and a community. Fast forward a year and a half later, I am lucky enough to be an assistant coach, helping athletes with specific movements they struggle with and helping new members navigate their first few classes with us! I love being apart of the CrossFit Grandview family and am looking forward to continuing to grow as a coach, athlete, and person!"- Nik
